In 1913, Mario Prada opened a luxury store in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. At that time, he operated it with his brother and it was called Fratelli Prada. He sold leather handbags, imported English traveling trunks, beauty cases and luxury accessories.
Prada quickly became a favorite for European aristocracy and the most elegant members of the haute-bourgeoise in Europe. This is thanks to its exclusively designed goods, handcrafted using only fine materials and sophisticated techniques. The classic Prada handbag was introduced in the 80s, along with a shoe line and the expansion of boutiques across Europe. The company has even produced a Prada cell phone available only in Europe and Asia.
